NOTE ON THE MARGINAL PLANTS

For the past few years, the term "plants with upright foliage" has been used to describe a very wide range of plants which cohabit in various zones, some bordering bodies of water, others in lakes, marshes or bogs.

This terminology, although not incorrect, is not quite exact.  It would be preferable to talk about marginal plants. This term takes into account the various conditions to which these plants are submitted and their most appropriate environment.

For example, certain plants prefer to keep their feet in the water all the time ( P ) , some can tolerate occasional flooding ( R ) and others will grow better in areas that may expérience drought ( B ) .
