In the fall, let your plants winter over in the cold room, in a large water-filled container, or in a water garden at a friend's
place. Put the pottery where it cannot freeze, or use it for decoration in the house.
The nelumbo (lotus) grows very well in a container. With a bag of soil, a beautiful piece of pottery
(waterproofed), the right fertilisation, a cold room for your lotus and its pottery to hibernate in, and you're on your way.
To speed up the lotus' initial growth in the spring, place it in a sunny spot in the house.
In mid-May, you will be able to take it outside.
